Welcome

Hi, I Am Sara Kendrick.

Willow Vine Counselling came into being slowly and organically. Life introduced me to the benefits of Yoga and talk therapy and these tools guided me to physical wellbeing and mental resilience.

Seeking help is not always easy. But qualified help can make your path far less lonely, and an effective practitioner’s insights will accelerate your progress. It’s a safe space to explore after being torn down, worn down, or ground down by life’s challenges – a safe place to breathe, heal, and rebuild.

As a therapist, I create a space of empathy and acceptance, free of judgement. Clients have remarked on my warm ability to connect and offer trustworthy, unconditional positive regard.

How my journey started

I owe a debt of gratitude to the therapist who guided me through my own dark and challenging time. Along with her guidance, she suggested that I had the makings of an effective therapist, which spurred studies in Yoga Therapy, a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, and certificates in Integrated Body Psychotherapy (IBP), Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), and Traumatic Stress Studies.

Where Healing Can Begin

In 2002, I was in a car accident, and as many such stories begin, that one event led to my reinvention. To ease pain and improve movement, I was introduced first to a Yoga practice, and to help me through this challenging time in my life, to talk therapy.
By 2012, I had completed Yoga Teacher Training and was teaching shortly after. Seeking a deeper understanding of the principles of Yoga, specifically the “koshas,” I continued to learn. Like nesting dolls, koshas represent layers, which include the physical and mental aspects that define each of us.
Achieving an 800-hour program by 2016, I had assembled a powerful Yoga therapy tool box.
In 2017, I completed a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. My final paper was titled “The Body Remembers: How Yoga Can Complement Trauma and Family Counselling.”
Today I work with clients who have experienced trauma – motor vehicle collisions, personal incidents – using Yoga and Integrative Body Psychotherapy as they fit the client and psychotherapy best outcomes. I faced my own dark times and developed resiliency. It’s an honour now to provide space for my clients, to be a light in that dark tunnel, beckoning them toward the light, acceptance, and their own opportunity for change.
