FAQ

Welcome to the FAQ, where I aim to address any questions or concerns you may have about Willow Vine therapeutic services. I understand that seeking therapy can be a significant decision, and I want to provide you with the information you need to make informed choices on your journey toward mental and emotional well-being. Browse through the frequently asked questions below to find answers about our approach, services, and what to expect during your therapeutic experience.

How many sessions do I need? Is it on-going?

The number of sessions that you will need really depends on your situation, your goals, history, type of therapy and other factors. I see myself as a resource for my clients whenever they are needing a safe and compassionate space to explore the challenges that life is throwing at them. It is typical during the beginning of therapy for people to come more often, such as once a week or every two weeks. Then people tend to lessen the frequency until they come in as needed.

Is there a sliding scale or discount available?

I understand that life happens sometimes, a modified fee structure may be available depending on client financial need.

How will counselling help me?

When you work with a counsellor that you feel comfortable, safe and confident with, the counselling process allows you to explore your feelings and present concerns to gain greater clarity and solve problems. Counselling is different from talking to a trusted friend or family member in that speaking to a trained therapist who is not biased can provide you with different perspectives on issues you’re struggling with.

What will happen during sessions?

When you first come to Willow Vine Counselling we’ll start by reviewing the informed consent form, which outlines the counsellor’s background, what counselling is, and confidentiality. The whole process is collaborative to tailor the process and approach to your unique needs.

Some people like to come in and talk about their thoughts and feelings without a great deal of interruption; while others may feel intimidated or would like more structure or direction. Generally, a counselling session feels like a comfortable conversation where you can really talk about what’s getting in your way and finding solutions that work best for you.

Couples counselling sessions are a little bit different in that the first few sessions, we will work to identify areas that you both would like to improve in your relationship. Each individual will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings in our sessions.
